Last month, small publisher Parvus Press celebrated two years since they hung up their shingle to publish the kinds of books they want to see in the world.
Co-founder Colin Coyle joins Brian and Rekka to discuss the process that brought about the birth of the company, the life experiences that prepared Colin to be an entrepreneur, Parvus’s growth so far, and their future plans for galactic domination.
They have three books released to-date, with their fourth book currently in open pre-orders. They have also signed on two more authors for future titles. Their team began as the three founding partners, Eric Ryles, John Adamus, and Colin and has begun to expand their team to include an additional acquisition editor, Kaelyn Considine, as well as marketing and PR guru, Jae Steinbacher.
For their first anthological project, If This Goes On, they have implemented a blind submissions process to ensure that all voices have an opportunity to be heard without consideration for name and pedigree. Additionally, they are opening manuscript submissions exclusively to POC a month ahead of general submissions, and are seeking POC for their Beta Reader team.
Colin has a business degree and a degree in American Literature. He decided to combine these two, plus his experience with team building, and things got real, fast.
He advises: Do Not Be Afraid to Ask Questions, and lived this mantra, reaching out to many industry professionals, who shared their knowledge to help Parvus get a head start.
