The Alliance of Independent Authors (ALLi) is a global non-profit organization for self-publishing authors. They offer a website focused around collecting Self-Publishing Advice for independent authors and presses. As an incentive for membership, ALLi members may contribute to the site, appear in their directory, and announce book launches in their showcase.
ALLi provides advice, service directories, networking, and podcasts to create a centralized hub of Self Publishing knowledge.
Several times per year, ALLi holds the online-only Indie Author Fringe event, which runs concurrently with major trade-only publishing conferences. Those presentations are provided free of charge on their website, paid for by sponsors. During the Fringe event, ALLi provides sponsor IngramSpark’s oft-Googled discount codes to negate the cost of setting up a book for global (wide) distribution.
The podcasts and other public content are quite robust and an indie author who enjoys aggregating their own research can benefit from the offering without having to spend a single dollar to join. However, ALLi membership may benefit authors who feel the need to access the exclusive content, including a members-only Facebook group, and those who want to support ALLi’s mission of education and advocacy.
